Between all of the double-crossing, characters coming back from the dead, and others willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good, F9 is mainly full of heroic characters. It’s almost as if the main characters are passive-aggressively trying to outdo each other with their heroic endeavors.

However, the protagonists of F9 could also be considered villains just as much as heroes, as they leave a trail of destruction and mayhem behind them. Some characters believe they’re doing the right thing but the actual fact is that they are destroying entire cities and ruining people’s lives. Depending on how fans view the incidents that unfold in the movie, it’s fair to say some are more heroic than others.
Cipher

Cipher hasn’t learned any lessons since audiences last saw her in Fate of the Furious, as she’s the same villainous master manipulator as she always has been.
She managed to charm her way out of a glass prison and then tried to shoot down Dom and Letty. There’s nothing heroic about Cipher in the slightest. Even though most villains end up getting redeemed in the series, whether it’s Deckard Shaw or Jakob, it’s unlikely that Cipher will ever heroically redeem herself.
Jakob
Being the newest addition to the cast, Jakob, Dom’s long-lost brother, is the clear villain of the movie. However, as their decades-long brotherly feud was simply a case of them getting their wires crossed, Jakob moved over to the light side.
By the end of the movie, Jakob helped Dom’s crew get out of some seriously sticky situations, but that wasn’t before being the catalyst of much of the movie’s mayhem. He isn’t exactly the hero of F9, but Jakob did become more of a sympathetic character. But as Jakob is clearly going to be a staple of the Toretto family in the future, he’ll no doubt get his moment to shine.
Han
Han’s return was one of the big selling points of the new movie, as he’s a fan favorite and has been absent from the series since Fast and Furious 6. Although fans were campaigning for Han to get justice, that isn’t exactly what happens. While he’s on the good guys’ team, the character is a merciless killer.

The characters in the series have never overtly murdered enemies, especially not in such brutal ways. But Han changed that, as he uses a sniper rifle to expertly pick off Jakob’s associates, and he literally straps one of them to a bomb and kicks him out of a truck.
Ramsey
Fans loved Ramsey’s screen-time in F9 almost more than anything else, as with each consecutive movie since her introduction in Furious 7, she has had a much bigger role. F9 sees her not just behind a laptop hacking away like she usually does, but she’s in on the action too.
The character takes part in the epic finale in an attempt to stop the Aries Project. Even not knowing how to drive, Ramsey heroically hijacks the truck full of magnets in Edinburgh. However, the millions of dollars worth of damage she did to the city, along with smashing through small businesses and destroying civilians’ cars, isn’t so heroic.
Dom
Throughout the series, Dom has been a better hero than Brian, but that’s not the case in F9. Subverting expectations at first, Dom was far from heroic in F9 as he sat out the mission, leaving Letty and company on their own.
Although he let his wife go on what seemed to be a dangerous mission, even though it involved his own brother, Dom does the right thing in the end, as he joins the team and saves the day against Cypher. However, Dom arguably causes more problems than he fixes in F9, as he completely destroys the gang’s hideout and obliterates half of Tbilisi.
Letty
Over the years, Letty has proven to be one of the most valuable assets of the team. Letty has proven to be one of the bravest individuals in the franchises, often jumping at the opportunity to protect her family from harm. This was also seen in F9 as she rushed to their friends’ aid when they asked for help in taking down Jakob and Cipher.

However, one moment that stood out the most was when Letty saved Dom. In an act that was made from pure courage, Letty risked her life by jumping in the sea after Dom and saved him from drowning. This heroic act just served to emphasize how altruistic and selfless Letty could be.
Mia
Up until F9, while the crew was out committing death-defying stunts, Mia was completely absent. However, that all changed in the ninth installment of the series, as she was sent to Tokyo with Letty, which was the first scene the two ever shared alone together.
She might be the least likely to win the Hunger Games of the Fast crew, but seemingly out of nowhere, Mia has some impressive martial arts skills. Mia was able to take down Jakob’s associates with her skills, and in such a confined space too. It makes fans question why she wasn’t involved in any of the other missions considering how well-versed she is in hand-to-hand combat.
Tej
For the most part, Tej has had plenty of heroic moments, such as saving Rome on the ice in Fast and Furious 6. In F9, he was seen to take another one for the team as he went along with the ride into space with Rome, flying in a rocket car that had only been tested once no less.
The rocket car hadn’t even been successful during its first and only test, as it literally exploded, but Tej was brave enough to try it out anyway. And he couldn’t have been paired with anyone better, as the two going into space and having a surprisingly pleasant bonding moment is a great example of Rome and Tej being BFFs in the franchise.
Roman
Rome is by far the most heroic of any other character, just as he has been in most of the other movies too. He’s heroic in a literal sense, as he gets mercilessly shot at, but is ultimately uninjured despite there being bullet holes in his vest.
But more than anything, though the idea may have been ironic, it was Rome’s idea to go into outer space to blow up the satellite. And after time has run out for Rome and Tej to complete their initial plan, their only other option is a life-threatening mission. Rome convinces Tej to crash through the satellite in their rocket car for the greater good. But, of course, they end up back on Earth without a single injury just moments later.
