Thor Chris Hemsworth Unveils First Image From Mad Max Prequel Set

While fans recognise names like Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Chris Evans for their work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they are far from the only noteworthy films the actors have accomplished in their successful careers. Hemsworth, who will next be seen in Thor: Love and Thunder this summer, is slated to enter the Mad Max universe in George Miller’s Furiosa.

The Mad Max: Fury Road spin-off will serve as a prequel to Charlize Theron’s Furiosa character, with Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit) inheriting the torch from Theron (who has recently joined the MCU herself) and portraying a younger version of the character.

Hemsworth’s actual involvement in the film has yet to be revealed, but as the 2024 release date near, production on the picture continues. Principal photography for the project has recently began in New South Wales, Australia, and one of its stars has offered a first peek at the picture as production begins.

Furiosa Filming Finally Starts

Chris Hemsworth, star of Furiosa and Thor: Love and Thunder, announced that production on the Mad Max spin-off had begun in Australia. The George Miller-directed epic has been in the works since the release of Fury Road in 2015, and fans will be pleased to know that filming has begun. Hemsworth posted an image of Furiosa’s clapperboard with a short note about the movie’s filming beginning:

From Thor to Thunderdome

There isn’t much to take away from Chris Hemsworth’s basic picture, since a Mad Max film set in the desert isn’t exactly groundbreaking. However, the fact that the project is finally going in front of cameras should excite enthusiasts.

George Miller has a reputation for working on projects in the background without making much progress. Some may recall that Fury Road took over thirty years to complete.

But the director is now prepared, the cast has remembered their lines, and the cameras are rolling. The filmgoing public is now waiting with bated breath to see what kind of post-apocalyptic mayhem Miller gets up to this time. After years of development, the Mad Max spin-off/prequel is finally coming, and it’s wonderful to see that actor Chris Hemsworth is enthused about it.
